Qassim University hosts the first conference on 'Sports Fanaticism' in Saudi Arabia
University President Meets His Highness the Vice President of the Sports Authority
His Excellency Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, President of Qassim University, met with His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Vice Chairman of the General Sports Authority, in light of the university's readiness to hold a conference on sports fanaticism entitled "Sports Fanaticism. Effects and Solutions", on 10-11 Jumada II at Qassim University.
The conference, which is being held for the first time at a Saudi university, aims to emphasize the role of sports competitions in promoting loyalty and loyalty to the homeland and employing sports games to raise the reputation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regionally and internationally, as well as identifying the causes of sports fanaticism and its harmful effects on building a vital society, spreading awareness of the importance of the role of sports in community integration and cohesion and solidarity between individuals, and highlighting the role of regulations and laws in reducing the phenomenon of sports fanaticism.
The conference will address several topics, the most important of which are the negative effects of this phenomenon on the development of games and sports in the Kingdom, the role of educational and educational institutions, sports clubs and relevant community organizations in educating members of society, especially sports fans, in addition to the relationship between the media and social media sites to increase sports fanaticism.
During his meeting with His Excellency the Vice President of the Sports Authority, the President of Qassim University reviewed the university's efforts through the conference and partnerships with the relevant authorities to achieve the maximum benefit from the conference in terms of reducing the behavior of fanaticism among sports fans, most of whom are young people, in order to achieve the spread of sports spirit among fans and help develop sports competitions.
Al-Dawood emphasized that the Sports Authority can benefit from the university's research and scientific capabilities to develop scientifically based solutions to the phenomenon of intolerance, and will help exchange experiences and competencies between the two parties.
For his part, His Highness the Vice President of the Sports Authority welcomed the cooperation with the university in this conference, which comes at a very important time to reduce sports fanaticism, stressing the Authority's support for this conference to achieve the desired and satisfactory results.
This conference comes as an extension of the role played by Qassim University in organizing scientific and academic conferences and seminars, and in line with the directives of the wise leadership.
