The university, represented by the College of Applied Medical Sciences, participated in the eighth Saudi Optometry Conference, held under the patronage of the Minister of Health and organized by the Saudi Society for Optometry and Vision Science, which was held in Riyadh during the period 25-28 October 2023, through an accompanying exhibition that included introducing the university's academic and research role in the field of optometry, the role of the university's specialized optometry clinics, and a review of the department and student club's contribution to community activities. Rakan bin Massad Al-Mutairi, a student from the College of Applied Medical Sciences, won the best scientific research for 2023 in the students and graduates category among 102 research projects.
During the conference, the university held an accompanying exhibition for the College of Applied Medical Sciences, in which it reviewed the Doctor of Optometry program, which has full programmatic accreditation from the Education and Training Evaluation Commission, and the efforts of the Department of Optometry and the student club in the field of optics, in addition to the community participation carried out by the department to serve the community, and a number of introductory brochures were presented about the university in general and the Doctor of Optometry program at the university.
A number of faculty members, specialists and students in the Doctor of Optometry program also participated in the conference by presenting a number of scientific lectures and workshops.
It is worth mentioning that the conference witnessed the presentation of many lectures, workshops and scientific publications related to optometry and optometry, in addition to an exhibition for many medical companies, and discussed a number of topics.
