The International Advisory Council at Qassim University will hold its first session next Sunday, 26/1/1437 AH, which includes a distinguished group of internationally prominent leaders in the fields of thought, higher education, industry, production, and scientific research.
The Council will discuss a number of important topics on its agenda, including the current strategic plan, the next plan, the development of scientific research and many topics related to the process of developing and upgrading the university.
In its first session, the council's members include:
1 - Prof. David Gearhart, formerly of the University of Arkansas in America.
2 - Prof. Jimmy Chick - Director of the University of Tennessee in America.
3) Prof. Stephen Leith - President of Iowa State University.
4) Prof. Kirk Schulz - President of Kansas State University.
5 - Prof. Muhammad bin Abdulrahman Al-Hadlaq - Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Abdullah International Center for the Arabic Language.
6 - Prof. Khalid bin Saleh Al-Sultan - Director of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
7 - Prof. Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al-Hamoudi - President of Qassim University
8 - Prof. Sulaiman bin Abdulaziz Al-Yahya - Vice President for Planning, Development and Quality at Qassim University.

He pointed out that this reflects the support of the wise leadership for the march of Saudi universities in general and Qassim University in particular, stressing that the university seeks through the Advisory Council to search for scientific and research excellence and exchange experiences between the university and international scientific institutions and centers, which aims to link the university with the advanced world and provide opinion and advice, and is interested in communicating with the industrial and academic sectors, which enhances the status of the university in particular and the Kingdom in general, which in turn enhances the status of the university in general.
For his part, the Vice President for Planning, Development and Quality, Prof. Dr. Sulaiman bin Abdulaziz Al-Yahya, pointed out that the council comes within the framework of the university's endeavor to achieve its vision, mission and objectives in light of its ten-year plan 1431-1441 AH (2010-2020 AD), where the university's vision included achieving excellence in education, supporting sustainable development and contributing to building a knowledge society, and the university's mission emphasized providing advanced and academically accredited university education, community services and distinguished applied research using the latest administrative, technical and informational methods and activating national and international partnership by benefiting from national and international expertise.
He went on to say: The council was formed by inviting a number of officials from prestigious universities, scientific institutions and distinguished international companies to join it. He stressed that the council aims to give opinion and advice on the university's directions and priorities and ways to achieve them in accordance with the best standards of quality and academic accreditation, to provide visions and proposals that help the university to achieve a high degree of excellence in light of optimal activation of its potential and resources and their development according to modern methods, to benefit from the knowledge, thought and experience of council members in employing new performance engines to strengthen the university's areas of excellence and its openness to future sciences, and to make recommendations and develop proposals to strengthen channels of cooperation.
Dr. Al-Yahya pointed out that there are a number of important criteria for selecting the members of the Council, foremost among which is that the candidate should be a current or former director of international universities, executives in the industrial and service sectors, or those who have distinguished achievements in the fields of scientific research, industry, services or management, or holders of international awards, stressing the importance of balance in representing members from three basic sectors: universities, bodies and institutions specialized in the field of higher education, and economic institutions, whether inside or outside the Kingdom: Universities, bodies and institutions specialized in the field of higher education, and economic institutions, whether from inside or outside the Kingdom, who will represent scientific and technical disciplines in addition to administrative, humanitarian and educational sciences.
In conclusion, Dr. Al-Yahya welcomed the members of the Council, hoping that the Council will achieve the desired goals of its establishment.
