The University organizes a scientific symposium entitled "Arabic as a language and national identity"

The University, represented by the College of Arabic Language and Social Studies, held a remote scientific seminar entitled "Arabic as a Language and National Identity" on Wednesday, 27/5/1444 A.H., on the occasion of World Arabic Language Day.

The symposium was moderated by Dr. Ibrahim bin Ali Al-Dughairi, Professor of Literature and Criticism and official spokesperson for Qassim University, with the participation of Dr. Ziad bin Abdullah Al-Drees, former Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to UNESCO, and Dr. Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al-Ghamiz, Assistant Professor of Applied Linguistics at King Saud University, in the first theme of which the speakers addressed the efforts of Saudi Arabia in serving the Arabic language.

Dr. Al-Drees cited the Kingdom's pioneering role in serving the Arabic language through all its institutions, such as the King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language, the King Abdullah Center for Language Planning and Policy, Arabic language departments in universities, and supporting Arabic language issues in international forums.

The second theme dealt with the importance of strengthening the national linguistic identity of individuals and peoples. Dr. Al-Ghameez stressed that a positive sense of language contributes to activating civilizational pride due to the link between language and thought, which is the main engine of the sense of renaissance, citing many international experiences in this field. The seminar concluded with interventions from faculty members, interested persons, and attendees.
