His Excellency Prof. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, President of the University, inaugurated on Thursday morning, 9/2/1443 A.H., the laboratory of the Innovation Center at the university, inaugurated the permanent exhibition for innovation, and inaugurated the "Plus Incubator." His Excellency toured the pavilions of the permanent exhibition for innovation and the laboratory of the center.
Following the opening, the university president honored the winners of the Ibtikar Incubator, in addition to honoring a number of winning student projects in the Ibtikar Incubator, with a total of 24,000 riyals in prizes for male and female students.
The UQU President expressed his thanks and appreciation for what he saw in the center, stressing that the university is proud of such a center and its outputs, and the creative and distinctive ideas that it offers as a product that can be used in our lives, in addition to the distinguished projects he witnessed in the permanent exhibition for male and female students, thanking the success partners and the University Vice Presidency for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, praying to Allah for success and success for all.
The opening was attended by His Excellency the UQU Vice President Dr. Mohammed Al-Saawi, His Excellency the UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research Prof. Ahmed Al-Turki, His Excellency the UQU Vice President for Planning, Development and Quality Dr. Khalid Al-Harbi, His Excellency the UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs Dr. Mohammed Al-Sharekh, the Director of the Innovation and Intellectual Property Center Dr. Abdullah Al-Muhaimeed, the Dean of the Institute for Studies and Consulting Services Dr. Fahad Al-Ayiri and a number of deans, in addition to some guests from the Saudi Intellectual Property Authority, the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises and the Social Development Bank where a visual film presented an overview of the project.
For his part, the Director of the Innovation Center, Dr. Abdullah Almuhaimeed, spoke during his speech about the efforts exerted and the great support to enhance cooperation with the relevant authorities, and the achievements made during the past period, pointing out the importance of the center and its role in transforming pioneering ideas into promising projects that serve the knowledge economy through: Incubating new ideas, supporting innovative ideas and transforming them into realistic projects, promoting innovation and linking ideas with leading companies, and increasing the rate of patents and protecting them.
Qassim University has paid great attention and support to all university affiliates in the field of innovation, entrepreneurship and intellectual property, which was represented in the establishment of an innovation support center at the university, changing the name of the center from the Center for Inventions and Research Ideas to the Center for Innovation and Intellectual Property, in synchronization and correlation with the programs of Saudi Vision 2030, in addition to the formation of a permanent committee specialized in the field of innovation and intellectual property, including more than 30 topics in several sessions, adoption of intellectual property policies from the University Council, launching a patent initiative for university employees, and supporting the programs and events of the Innovation Center.
In the past period, the center held several programs and more than 18 events, in which the number of participants reached about 3200 participants. The center was also approved to establish and launch the "Plus Incubator", which is a nucleus and a basic seed to support the innovation and entrepreneurship system, which aims to support the innovation and entrepreneurship system, provide an innovative entrepreneurial environment for university employees, provide shared work spaces, and provide scientific, technical and technical consultations.
The Ibtikar Center's initiative is divided into several tracks, namely: Ibtikar Incubator for Graduation Projects, Ibtikar Incubator for Postgraduate Studies, and Ibtikar Incubator for Entrepreneurs, as the outputs of the incubator have exceeded 90 projects, with the participation of more than 270 participants, in several fields including technology and technology, engineering and its applications, medical and health sciences, and agricultural sciences and their applications.
The center also provided many services for faculty members in the field of research and development (supercomputer), and the permanent exhibition of innovation at Qassim University, in cooperation with the sponsor of the exhibition, the Institute for Studies and Consulting Services, and success partners Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises (Monsha'at), the Social Development Bank, and the Qassim Business Interface.
