His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh, visited the university on Sunday and inspected its projects and educational facilities, the medical city and the driving school, met with the university council members and faculty members, and watched the student exhibition of innovations and artistic designs.
During his visit to the university, the Minister of Education praised its achievements, construction projects, academic and research achievements, and the societal role it plays, stressing that the role played by Qassim University in the field of intellectual awareness is a pioneering role.
He praised the university's awards and progress in international and local rankings, and its full institutional and programmatic accreditation, in addition to its research role and the research it has published in international journals, thanking the university for its efforts during the Corona pandemic and the continuation of remote education on the first day that the study was suspended in person.
Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, President of the University, welcomed the Minister, stressing that the University enjoys the support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz - may Allah protect them - and the follow-up and encouragement of His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Meshal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Qassim Region, His Royal Highness Prince Fahd bin Turki bin Faisal bin Turki Al Saud, Deputy Governor of Qassim, under the supervision and guidance of the Minister of Education Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sheikh.
Speaking during a ceremony held on this occasion, Dr. Al-Dawood stressed that the university is working in accordance with the directives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, and is preparing for the implementation of the new university system by restructuring the university academically, administratively and financially, in order to achieve quality control and increase spending efficiency, in addition to seeking to increase its own resources, with the aim of continuity in development and excellence.
Dr. Al-Dawood explained that the university was keen to promote responsible and conscious citizenship, and that prevention is better than cure; it worked to rebuild the Islamic culture courses with the aim of preparing the student to be a balanced religious, intellectual, behavioral, cultural and moral personality, in a way that helps protect the homeland, preserve the unity of society, and contribute to its development.
The university president extended his thanks and appreciation to the Minister of Education for the continuous support that the Kingdom's universities receive from his Excellency, congratulating the success of the remote education process during the Corona pandemic, the excellence that education in the Kingdom has received at the global level, and the wide success of the Madrasati platform.
During the visit, the Minister of Education toured the university veterinary hospital at the university, where he toured the hospital's departments and facilities, its museum, and the rare cases received by the hospital. He also reviewed the statistics of the hospital during the past six years, as it is considered the largest general veterinary hospital in the Kingdom as a specialized hospital, with a total area of 60000 square meters, and more than 15000 square meters of support and support areas for the hospital's units.
After that, the Minister visited the university's medical city, which is the first specialized reference academic medical city with a capacity of 420 beds in an area of 100,000 square meters in Qassim region, providing advanced health care to the citizens of the region and residents alike.
His Excellency then toured the Qassim University Driving School, which was inaugurated as the first driving school in the region, on an area of 55,000 square meters within the university campus, and includes a number of facilities: The most important of which is a 30,000-square-meter training field that contains 18 traffic skills.
Then, during his visit to the headquarters of the University City, the Minister of Education witnessed the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between Qassim and Tabuk Universities, in addition to signing the contract for the establishment of the Sheikh Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Oweidah Chair for intellectual awareness and national affiliation, and then watched a presentation of a visual film about the university projects, achievements, programs, numbers of students and employees, in addition to the number of its research and scientific conferences, in the presence of the staff of the University Council.
