His Excellency Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, President of the University, received a report on the participation of the University Veterinary Hospital in the fifth edition of the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival yesterday, Wednesday, 26/7/1442 A.H. During his reception at his office in the main headquarters of the University City, the Director of the hospital, Dr. Abdullah Al-Hawas.
During the meeting, His Excellency was briefed on the details of the participation, praising the role played by the veterinary hospital at the university, where the participation started from the preparations. The committee started its work at the festival before the start of the competition on 29/3/1442 AH, to prepare and equip examination tools, medical devices, external and internal examination sites, and provide all work needs.
The director of the veterinary hospital explained that when the festival started, the committee examined all entries of all colors and categories, and the number of entries examined reached 4635, and 77 cases of tampering were detected, including 61 "stretching", 14 "injections" and 2 "hormones", indicating that the committee took specific steps for the examination, namely the virtual examination of the entries, namely the virtual examination of the participants The cases were sterilized in safe and sound ways and examined in clinical and visual ways, after which modern and advanced equipment was used to photograph and clarify the results of the examination, as participants with positive tampering results or those suffering from infectious diseases were excluded.
Al-Hawas added that the committee carried out early medical examination for external cases and served camel owners to ensure the safety of their camels that will participate in the festival or for buying and selling by examining them clinically and laboratory thoroughly, and the cases that were examined amounted to 164 cases, pointing out that the committee used several methods He pointed out that the committee used several methods to examine the participants in the competition, in order to detect cases of tampering, whether injecting fillers, stretching the lips of the "sabal" or infectious infection, or complaining of damage affecting their appearance, including visual examination, ultrasound examination, X-ray examination, and laboratory examination.
Al-Hawas explained that the committee also examined 4635 cases, provided prescriptions and advice to camel owners regarding medical injuries, provided other committees with assistance, whether through surgical intervention or data on the participants, detection at the early external examination point for camels, and media awareness by preparing reports and television interviews, indicating the tangible development of the medical committee annually with the latest devices, modern technologies and methods of detecting tampering.
