His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Meshal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Emir of Qassim Region, sponsored, at his office in the Emirate on Monday, the signing of an agreement between the University and Sheikh Abdullah bin Saleh Al Othaim, to establish the Prince Dr. Faisal bin Meshal bin Saud Chair for Artificial Intelligence, with the aim of promoting innovation, digital solutions and localization in AI applications in several scientific and economic fields for three years, which can be extended.
The agreement was signed by His Excellency Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, President of Qassim University, representing the university, and businessman Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Othaim. Through this agreement, the university aims to provide the appropriate scientific environment for the preparation of qualitative research in the field of artificial intelligence, support specialized research in this field, as well as innovate new applications and spread the culture of artificial intelligence in government and private institutions in general.
HH the Emir said: He hoped that this scientific chair to support artificial intelligence research will achieve future goals in order to meet the university's ambition to build a model of cooperation with the private sector that helps develop resources, enhance independence, exchange knowledge, and achieve innovation by encouraging scientific research in all specialized fields, hoping that the chair will enrich the research activity in the field of artificial intelligence, which is evidence of the adoption of initiatives that contribute to providing sustainable solutions to society, economy and environment.
His Highness also explained that the chair will support efforts to localize artificial intelligence, as research results will provide useful information and solutions in the field of applications, praising the efforts of Sheikh Abdullah Al Othaim, who is considered a distinguished and giving model in charitable work, and highly appreciating this generous donation from him in charitable works in the region and beyond.
For his part, His Excellency Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, President of the University, welcomed the cooperation to establish the Chair of Artificial Intelligence, pointing out that this cooperation will contribute to the development of special projects that support artificial intelligence and work on analyzing data and systems in support of the objectives of the chair and the commitment to implement such agreements with high quality.
