His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Meshal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Emir of Qassim Region, chaired the meeting of the Supreme Council of the Abdullah Al-Sulaiman International Award for Scientific Creativity in Palm and Dates (Joud), which was held at the meeting hall of his office in the presence of HE Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Dawood, President of the University, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Wazzan, Undersecretary of Qassim Emirate and Dr. Mohammed Al-Dughairi, Executive Director of the Award, where they reviewed the goals achieved by the Award in its second session.
During the meeting, H.H. the Emir of Qassim emphasized the importance of expanding the award internationally and attracting those interested and producers in the field of palm and dates, pointing out that the presence of international initiatives and awards in this field will support and motivate those interested in palm and date producers, adding that the Abdullah Al-Sulaiman International Award is awarded every two years through four tracks and it is important to expand the award internationally and work to support and encourage scientists and researchers under the supervision of Qassim University, both at the international and regional levels.
His Highness described the award as distinguished in stimulating creative and innovative scientific achievements in the field of palm and dates, in addition to motivating scientists, researchers, date producers and manufacturers to create creative works to develop and help solve issues related to the field of palm and dates and support and disseminate knowledge in this field.
The university oversees this award, which focuses on achieving the objectives of developing and advancing scientific research on palm trees, promoting the leading role of Saudi Arabia globally, encouraging producers, exporters, marketers, institutions and associations related to palm trees, supporting scientific research related to the development of the palm tree in all its aspects, spreading the culture of interest in palm trees and dates at the local, regional and international levels, and encouraging inventions and scientific techniques related to palm trees and dates.
