The University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs, concluded its participation in the "Buraydah Spring Festival 41" on Wednesday, 20/5/1441 A.H., through a pavilion with 26 corners, in which it provided many awareness, health, therapeutic, educational and educational services through 60 different programs, with the participation of 884 male and female students and 22 members of the academic staff.
The services provided by the university to visitors this year varied through a number of corners, including: The reception corner of the Deanship of Student Affairs, the corner of the College of Human Medicine, the corner of the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, the College of Computing, the College of Applied Medical Sciences, the College of Engineering, the College of Science, the College of Dentistry, the College of Pharmacy, the College of Education (Physical Education), in addition to the corner of the The corner of the College of Medical Rehabilitation, the corner of the College of Education "Special Education", the corner of the College of Education "Special Education", the art corner, the child corner, the Deanship of Admission and Registration, the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies, the nutrition corner, the counseling corner, the corner of the Department of Jawala, and an introductory corner for the University Driving School.
For his part, Dr. Mohammed Al-Ajlan, Vice Dean of Student Affairs, supervisor of the university pavilion, pointed out that the university pavilion provided various services and programs during its 11-day participation in the festival that benefited 77,267 beneficiaries and was visited by about 42475 visitors, where health services benefited 16,832 visitors, awareness programs benefited 28,310 visitors, entertainment programs benefited 14,645 visitors, and educational programs benefited 9720 visitors. 16832 visitors, 28310 visitors benefited from awareness programs, 14645 visitors benefited from entertainment programs, 9720 visitors benefited from educational programs, in addition to a special children's corner that provided services to 7352 children, while 408 visitors benefited from the services provided by the consultation corner.
Many student clubs and supporting deanships participated in the university pavilion at the festival by providing their specialized services to all segments of visitors. The College of Pharmacy participated through the student club for female students under the slogan "Use it safely", to raise preventive and therapeutic awareness of the methods of using cosmetics, as well as health awareness for using medicines that do not require a prescription to dispense them. The student club at the College of Applied Medical Sciences (male and female students) participated in a special corner that provided several services to visitors, including: Measuring refractive errors, measuring visual acuity, eye examinations for children, "Know your blood type and what it tells you", "What is your body mass index", measuring hemoglobin, measuring blood sugar, identifying the types of anemia and important tests for the diabetic patient, identifying the silent killer and common myths related to blood pressure, and referring some cases to the university clinics.
The student club at the College of Dentistry (male and female students) also participated in the festival and provided its services to visitors, which consisted of an immediate general examination of the dental condition, an educational awareness corner for oral and dental health care, educational models for oral and dental health, health consultations, and direct referral to clinics at Qassim University. The student club at the College of Education (female students) participated in a special corner entitled "Ask and learn about special education categories", namely autism spectrum disorder, hearing disability, visual and mental disability, speech disorders, and learning difficulties.
In turn, the Deanship of Admission and Registration at the university participated in a special corner entitled "Ask Me" to contribute to providing guidance to students and visitors to the festival and introducing them to Qassim University, its components and the most important information about it. The College of Nursing participated through its student club (female students) in providing first aid for wounds and fractures, fainting, external bleeding, and suffocation.
For its part, the College of Computing participated in the festival through its student club (male and female students) by introducing visitors to how to protect their information from being hacked (cell phone security), experiencing the virtual world (VR), introducing the 3D printer, as well as restrictions on the safe use of smart devices by children, how to shop online safely, and exploring artificial intelligence, while the student club at the College of Medicine (male and female students) participated in the festival by providing several services to visitors, including medical examinations for kidney stones, osteoporosis, epilepsy, heat cramps, anemia, and chronic diseases. For its part, the Deanship of Admission and Registration provided an introductory overview of post-secondary departments, post-preparatory departments, academic calendar, ways to communicate with the Deanship of Admission and Registration, post-secondary admission mechanism, calculating the university admission bonus, and answering inquiries in this regard. The Driving School for Women at Qassim University participated in several services, including introducing the method of registration at the school, in addition to the registration of those who wish to obtain a driver's license, types of tracks and the number of hours for each track, the level determination test from the Driving School, the number of trainers, cars, and skills required for the driver's license.
The student club at the College of Engineering (students) presented a number of projects at the Buraydah Spring Festival, including the bus project that works to protect students in case one of them stays inside the bus by giving an alarm to the bus driver, the smart glove project that enables people with special needs to request help in case of emergency by moving their fingers through an application on a smartphone, and the pool project that can close the pool when not in use to protect children from falling in and facilitate the cleaning process of large waste by linking it with a secret number for opening and closing, in addition to 3D printing and a test that measures the consistency of concrete
The children's activities organized by the Department of Kindergarten at the College of Education included an art corner to develop the child's creative sense while providing some means to develop cognitive skills such as matching, sequencing, grouping and arranging games, in addition to a building and demolition corner with blocks, and a library corner that included many illustrated stories and interactive books. Activities were also held in cooperation with some disciplines in participating in the children's corner, where students from the Faculty of Medicine displayed some models and models for children to learn about doctor tools and healthy and unhealthy foods, and the Faculty of Science presented the experience of making clay with household tools, and the Faculty of Science presented cooking.
The female dental students presented foods that cause tooth decay to children and encouraged them to use brushes and toothpaste after each meal and visit the dentist to check on their dental health. The female students of the College of Nursing presented first aid tools and equipment to children, while the Art Education Department prepared the hut, added stickers to it and colored the drawings with the participation of children, and the College of Computing used a program to design electronic games with children within specific steps via laptop to promote the use of modern technology in a positive and useful way. The scholarship students had a share of participation in the university's pavilion at the Buraydah Spring Festival, where they reviewed the different cultures of their countries, their foods, folk dances and other customs that are spread in these countries to familiarize festival visitors with other cultures and bring peoples closer together.
Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Khuwailid from the College of Medicine, Department of Dermatology, provided advice and answers to visitors' questions on dermatology, Dr. Sulaiman Saleh Al-Othaim from the College of Education, Department of Special Education, provided answers on autism spectrum disorder, Dr. Ahmed Thabet from the College of Engineering provided advice on electrical safety and energy conservation, and Dr. Aqeel Abdullah Al-Aqeel from the College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, provided medical consultations on children, glands, and diabetes.
Dr. Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Ghufais from the College of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, answered visitors' questions on renewable and alternative energy.
