The University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs, launched the "Arabic Calligraphy Competition" with prizes of up to 12 thousand riyals for talented university students in the art of Arabic calligraphy, to give them the opportunity to showcase their creativity in this art associated with the Arabic language, the language of the Holy Quran, in conjunction with the World Arabic Language Day, as the competition aims The competition aims to spread the spirit of honorable competition, encourage talented university students, and encourage them to promote positive values and morals among the community in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Through the proposed texts, which contribute to the discipline of behavior and correction of the soul, such as Qur'anic texts, hadiths and poetry related to the theme of the competition.
The competition includes several types of Arabic calligraphy, namely: Naskh, Diwani, Jali Diwani, and Ruqa'a. The deanship also stipulated that the contestant must be a male and female student at Qassim University. The contestant can participate in a maximum of two types of calligraphy, with adherence to the texts proposed in each type, and the contestant must write the work according to traditional Arabic calligraphy. Traditional Arabic calligraphy, and the contestant is not allowed to mix any of the calligraphy styles on a single panel. Winning on the basis of the quality of the writing, its safety according to the recognized rules, and its suitability for a homogeneous composition that reveals the contestant's skill level.
The contestant has full freedom to create the designs he deems appropriate, and the jury has the right to award the prize equally between the two calligraphers if it deems it necessary, and it has the right to withhold some prizes if it deems it necessary, in addition to the right of the committee to call the contestant to confirm the level of his writing, and the paper size should be 60 x 40 cm, and it is preferable to use paper "forcing".
The deanship also stressed to the contestants that they should make use of traditional Arabic calligraphy tools and quality inks of any appropriate color in the execution of the entries. Entries must be mailed in a cylindrical or flat format, not glued or folded, and the entrant must fill out the entry form.
