The Qassim University football team was crowned with the championship cup of the Saudi Universities Sports Federation, after beating the Taif University team in the final match in the meeting that took place on Friday afternoon, 25/6/1435 AH, at the stadium of King Fahd Sports City in Al-Huwaiya, with three goals against two goals scored by Abdulaziz Al-Harbi, Bandar Al-Harbi and Salman Al-Othman.
The match witnessed a football sparring that embodied the strength and beauty of the football competitions that bring together our Saudi universities, as Qassim University advanced first before being equalized by Taif University, then Qassim advanced again before Taif caught up with the draw for the second time and minutes before the end of the meeting and from a drawn attack crowned by the university champions with a goal that officially announced Qassim University crowned the fourth edition of the Saudi Universities Sports Federation Championship after a long journey that began with the group stage.
His Excellency the President of Qassim University, Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al-Hamoudi, congratulated everyone on this great achievement, praising the support of the wise leadership for the march of Saudi universities, stressing that the establishment of the Saudi Universities Sports Federation reflects the amount of attention the state pays to youth activities, pointing out that the federation has succeeded in creating a sports movement among our universities.
His Excellency also appreciated the support and interest of His Highness the Emir of Qassim and His Highness the Deputy Emir of Qassim in everything that would promote the university in all educational, cultural, creative and sports fields, and appreciated the interest of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and His Excellency the Deputy Minister to push the wheel of this federation to play its role towards the people of the country by organizing multiple sports competitions in various games,
His Excellency renewed his congratulations to the university champions and congratulated the players, coaches, administrators, supervisors and the Deanship of Student Affairs for their brilliance in these competitions.
For his part, Dr. Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Sharida congratulated the members of the technical and administrative staff and the players on the occasion of winning the Saudi Universities Championship Cup after the honorable level that the team presented throughout its journey in this tournament, through which it reflected the real reality reached by the university sport, which receives all the support and attention of the UQU President Dr. Khalid Al-Hamoudi and the Vice President for Educational Affairs Dr. Ahmed Al-Tami.
Dr. Al-Shuraydah pointed out that the champions joined the football cup to the table tennis championship cup, in which the university achieved first place in all categories (doubles, singles and teams), in addition to the medals of swimming, judo and karate, praising the efforts made by the technical and administrative staff and students.
For his part, the General Supervisor of Sports Activities, Abdullah Al-Khalifa, on behalf of himself and all members of the sports supervision and students, expressed his thanks to the UQU President, the Vice President for Educational Affairs, the Dean of Student Affairs, and the Vice Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Fahad Al-Daleh, for their support, care and follow-up of the university team since the beginning of preparation and participation in this tournament, which resulted in achieving this great achievement, praise be to God.
The champions of this achievement also expressed their happiness in achieving the Saudi Universities Championship, stressing that this was not achieved without the success of God Almighty and then the support of the university leaders and the Deanship of Student Affairs and those in charge of the team from coaches, administrators and supervisors, pointing out that topping the list of Saudi universities in sports will push them to exert more effort in the upcoming competitions to continue at the top.
