The University, represented by the College of Engineering, held an awareness campaign at the level of the Qassim region on Thursday, 3/3/1441 A.H., by placing posters with awareness statements about waste on cleaning vehicles, as part of the preparations for the first international conference on sustainability of natural resources "Sustainable Management of Solid Waste", which will be organized by the university on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
Awareness posters were placed on the 30 mobile "compressor" vehicles inside and outside the university city, and these posters contained a number of awareness and guidance phrases, including: "The earth has no tongue to speak of environmental injustice. "Sustainability is about meeting the needs of ourselves and those who come after us," and "Sustainability is about meeting the needs of those who come after us. "Preserve the place for your children, be a friend to the environment, your positive environmental behavior is a charity to yourself", "Desertification is a cancer of the environment; contribute to its treatment, awareness and behavior", "Balanced consumption of resources gives the environment opportunities for sustainability and growth", and other awareness phrases.
Through this conference, the university seeks to contribute to the preparation of a comprehensive vision on solid waste management at the national and global level, and to indicate the size of wasted natural and economic resources and estimate the environmental cost of waste, with the participation of a number of speakers who will review the latest developments of modern science in this field, and will discuss many relevant scientific papers and research papers.
The conference includes a number of themes, including: Sustainable practices of waste management at all stages "from generation, source separation, collection, transportation, transformation and disposal" and at all levels "planning, management, operation, maintenance and investment", while the second theme deals with how to manage food loss and food waste at the production and consumption level, the third theme discusses investment in waste recycling and transformation industries, while the fourth theme deals with rational waste management from a legal and cultural perspective.
