Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, UQU President and Chairman of the Committee to Review the New University System at the Ministry of Education, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz - may Allah protect them - on the occasion of the issuance of the new university system. He also expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the Minister of Education Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sheikh for his attention to the system project since he assumed the leadership of the ministry, where one of the results of his first meeting with university administrators was to issue a decision that included a committee of university directors to review a draft system.His Excellency the Minister's follow-up and direct supervision of the committee's work, as well as his follow-up with the competent higher authorities and the Shura Council, had a great impact on the emergence of the system in a manner consistent with the aspirations of the wise leadership and realizing the aspirations of university staff and the hopes of the Saudi people towards this type of education.
Al-Dawood added that the new system is in line with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which sets among its goals the arrival of five Saudi universities to the ranks of the top two hundred international universities in 2030, stressing the importance of the role assigned to universities in achieving the objectives of the vision, leading change and moving towards the future, and being the most important arm in achieving the objectives of the (Human Capacity Development) program, which is one of the vital executive programs in the vision project. He pointed out that the new system ensures the application of governance and transparency standards, and gives universities independence in decision-making, implementation of initiatives, and attracting distinguished competencies, in addition to providing universities with different and renewable sources of funding.
