His Excellency Prof. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, President of the University, inaugurated today, Wednesday, 24/2/1441 A.H., the University's new academic wing at the headquarters of the General Investigations Prison in Buraidah, which provides regular education services to inmates in a number of academic disciplines in a program considered one of the first academic programs at the level of universities and educational institutions, in the presence of Major General Aqeel bin Khalaf Al-Anzi, Director of Investigation in Qassim, a number of security leaders and the University Vice President for Educational Affairs Dr. Mohammed Al-Oudaib and a number of inmates and faculty members, as this wing offers an integrated study plan for inmates and inmates.
The university pavilion inside the General Investigations Prison in Buraydah contains a number of classrooms to offer diploma and bachelor's programs, in addition to the post-bachelor's higher diploma in a number of scientific disciplines. The programs are offered in a regular manner to inmates, in which 54 students enrolled in the diplomas, with the aim of helping them to join the labor market armed with a specialized certificate.
In his speech, His Excellency Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, President of the University, expressed his happiness on this occasion, saying: We at the university are happy with such community participation that touches the needs of all segments of society, especially when we go out of the university circle with its colleges and deanships to the depth of the community, and we are happier when we present it to our sons who are inmates of the General Investigations Prison in Qassim.
He pointed out that the idea was launched after his previous visit to the headquarters of the prison and was studied with a number of university staff and researching what the university can provide to the inmates and came up with a number of educational services that the university can provide to them.
Al-Dawood explained that the university started with the higher diploma after the bachelor's degree, which is considered an important stage for any student, stressing that the ambition and goal in cooperation with the Presidency of State Security, represented by the Qassim Investigation Department, exceeds this ceiling, noting that the university will offer inmates a number of postgraduate programs in several disciplines such as business administration, Sharia, humanities and social sciences such as sociology and others, as the university believes in the importance of participating inmates in giving them the opportunity to enroll in such programs.
Al-Dawood stressed that offering such kind of postgraduate programs for inmates with its requirements is not easy, but in light of the great cooperation with the Investigation Department, it was agreed to start offering programs and courses that do not have requirements outside this department, through halls equipped with screens that broadcast lessons as if the student is present at the university, indicating that the university will be the first to offer such programs.
Al-Dawood pointed out that the study in these programs will be free of charge without any fees, in appreciation of the university and to facilitate its students in prison to join them, and in line with the vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince - may Allah protect them - and with the services and facilities provided by the government of the Kingdom to prison inmates, especially since some students from inmates have obtained high rates in the undergraduate stage that qualify them to enter the graduate studies stage with ease and ease, God willing.
For his part, Major General Aqeel bin Khalaf Al-Enezi, Director of General Investigations in Qassim Region, emphasized during his speech on the principle of partnership between the administration and the university, pointing out that the means of this partnership were discussed during a previous visit by His Excellency the President of the University, where His Excellency the University President made great efforts to provide educational services to prison inmates, so that they can continue their education from inside the prison, stressing that the partnership with the university will have a wide impact, praising all efforts made by the prison administration, and appreciating the role of Qassim University and keenness to provide this service to inmates to benefit from educational services of the University of Qassim.
Mr. Al-Enezi explained that the prison inmates will be active members of society when they leave the prison, armed with the weapon of science and knowledge that they will receive during their stay in this prison, hoping that in the coming days we will celebrate the first of the new graduates from the university and continue their education with postgraduate studies.
For his part, Colonel Turki bin Ahmed Al-Jadaani, Director of the Public Investigation Prison in Buraydah, welcomed the attendees on this day, when the hand of science shakes hands with the hand of security to build a strong building that draws its strength from the light of knowledge and the sincerity of determination by the official on the one hand, and the student of knowledge and knowledge on the other, to achieve one of the most important goals sought by our wise leadership - may Allah support them with His success - which is reform and give the inmate his opportunity to achieve education and prepare him to practice his normal life when he is released to the community.
Al-Jadaani praised the great role of the young university in this cooperation, expressing his wish that his brothers and sons students should seize this valuable opportunity and take advantage of it, especially since the contract of this cooperation was completed by waiving the tuition fees for the students of the "Higher Diploma Program", as well as paying a monthly bonus for students enrolled in the associate diploma and bachelor's programs, just like their fellow students in the university's colleges.
In turn, inmate student Fayed Al-Qayed spoke on behalf of his fellow students, stressing that the programs offered by the university will allow him and his colleagues to complete their studies, especially since they are exempted from tuition fees, and he seeks to celebrate graduation with his colleagues, stressing that they will continue to study for master's and doctoral degrees, and expressed his thanks and appreciation for all sincere efforts to facilitate the work of the university in the prison.
After that, a visual film prepared by the media center in the time management wings entitled "New Era" was shown, which carried messages of thanks from the students for this great opportunity to build their educational future and continue their studies and its psychological impact on them, and then the student Othman bin Hamza Al-Samman participated by showing sand painting, expressing his feelings on this occasion.
At the end of the ceremony, the UQU President handed over study bags to the inmates, which contain textbooks, notes, and study references to the inmates in order to help them continue their scientific training
