On Monday, 28/10/1440 A.H., Prof. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, UQU President, sponsored the closing ceremony of the "Fundamentals of Scientific Research I" course in the presence of the university vice presidents, which was organized by the Deanship of Scientific Research for health specialties students, and benefited 70 male and female students from the university's health colleges, during which 19 lectures and 16 workshops were presented over a month at the headquarters of the medical clinics in the university city.
During his speech at the closing ceremony of the course, the UQU President gave good news to the university's faculty members when he announced that the University Council has approved the minutes of a proposal for a rewarding reward for those who publish scientific research in well-known scientific publishing venues, stressing that another proposal to reward male and female students who manage to publish in these venues will be presented to the University Council in the nearest session for consideration because the university does not differentiate between faculty members and students.
Al-Dawood thanked the UQU Vice Presidency for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research and the Deanship for all that they do to serve scientific research and for organizing this course, which will, God willing, be a nucleus for future courses, noting that students are in dire need of learning about the basics of scientific research and scientific publishing, in addition to specialized courses for faculty members in everything related to preparing scientific research and publishing for acceptance in local and international publishing bases and vessels.
Al-Dawood added that obtaining a seat in such courses has a great impact on his or her professional life after graduation and obtaining jobs in various fields that evaluate the level of the student in general, and will have a great impact by introducing them and the CV of each one of them, and urged his students to take advantage of such courses, which may cost them thousands of riyals to obtain outside the university. He assured them that with them and their efforts, we will elevate our university and fulfill the aspirations of the rulers of the country, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Highness the Crown Prince, His Highness the Emir of the region and His Highness the Deputy Emir, who do not hesitate to ask about the university, its students and what this university produces.
He recommended the students to raise the name of their university because they are part of it. The higher the level of your university, the higher your level, because he does not look at the name of the person but looks at the name of the university from which he obtained that degree. In his speech, the Dean of the Deanship of Scientific Research, Dr. Mansour Al-Shuraydah, spoke about scientific research, which is one of the most important objectives of the university, as well as one of the most important determinants of the development axes in the scientific, industrial and social sectors, stressing that scientific research is the main tool to address the problems of society and serve the national development plans, so the Deanship of Scientific Research at Qassim University spares no effort to develop and activate the scientific research movement at the university in various scientific fields.
He stressed that the deanship is working to create the appropriate environment for scientific research by providing the necessary facilities for faculty members, researchers, students and students, in addition to supporting the holding of specialized workshops and seminars, including this course on the basics of scientific research for male and female students of health colleges, which is a unique course where male and female students receive 3 certificates: a certificate of completion of the course, a certificate of completion of the scientific research ethics course, and a special certificate of completion of the online nature master class: A certificate of completion of the course, a certificate of completion of the scientific research ethics course, and a special certificate of completion of the Online Nature Master class program.
He added that the deanship is currently working on launching future programs to develop the research skills of faculty members and undergraduate and postgraduate students during the next academic year through the researcher qualification program, which aims to enhance the role of the Deanship of Scientific Research in achieving sustainable development in accordance with the Saudi Vision 2030, give an opportunity to train researchers in their field of specialization, support the research process with research assistants from undergraduate and postgraduate students, and provide multiple opportunities for faculty members to accomplish more than one research project.
The Dean of Scientific Research pointed out that the available research training opportunities are research projects in various scientific disciplines, specialized training programs, specialized training courses, and technical research training, and these programs have advantages such as granting a certificate of participation in scientific research, a certificate of technical expertise, and inclusion as an author or thanks in the published research according to the conditions and regulations, adding that there will be a new researcher preparation program consisting of 15 training hours, and there will be a scientific research advisor program that consists of 18 training hours, with the aim of guiding researchers towards optimal selection of research project topics and proposal writing skills.
After that, the student Saleh bin Nasser Al-Oufi spoke on behalf of his fellow male and female students participating in the course about the contents of the course, which began with lectures and several workshops aimed at learning the methods of effective and correct reading of scientific papers and dealing with reliable sources of information, then addressing the types of scientific studies and research and methods of preparing and writing them according to the correct scientifically approved standards, in addition to methods of using scientific sites, programs and tools that support the researcher and how to deal with them, and methods of presenting scientific research in meetings and conferences and publishing it in the best scientific sites and journals.
"Al-Oufi" praised the contents of the course, which was held under the supervision of a group of distinguished scientific cadres in their specialties who are interested in spreading this science and cultivating this skill among the participants, with their keenness to answer all the trainees' questions and inquiries during lectures, workshops or scientific discussion sessions, as this course is considered the first of its kind in the Qassim region with rich scientific content and non-profit nominal fees.
