Millennial Animal Surgery

Course Description: This course focuses on the diagnosis and management of surgical conditions affecting the gastrointestinal system, respiratory system, and genitourinary system. It also covers surgical repair of congenital anomalies of the male reproductive system, musculoskeletal system surgical conditions, orthopedic and joint surgery, arthroscopy, and diagnosis of lameness. Additionally, it provides students with fundamental knowledge in interpreting diagnostic imaging techniques (radiography and ultrasonography) for diagnosing surgical conditions in companion animals.

Prerequisites: VMD 485
Objectives of the course :

Students will acquire the necessary skills to differentiate between various surgical problems in pets.
Students will be able to analyze data from various sources related to the principles of companion animal surgery.
Students will be able to handle general and specialized surgical instruments used in pets.
Provide students with skills related to various types of surgical conditions in companion animals.
Provide students with skills related to the different types of veterinary anesthesia used in pets.

Course outputs :

Students will be able to apply critical thinking and analytical skills to intervene in surgical cases.
Students will be able to work effectively in teams to solve veterinary surgical problems.
