Bird diseases

Course Description: This course will cover: Biosecurity in poultry farms, viral diseases, bacterial diseases, fungal diseases and mycotoxins, parasitic and protozoal diseases, and nutritional and metabolic diseases. Pathogens, their transmission, avian susceptibility, clinical signs, lessons learned, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment will also be discussed.
Credit hours: 3
Prerequisites: VMD 352
Objectives of the course :

Provide students with knowledge related to the principles of biosecurity in poultry farms.
- Equipping students with knowledge related to viral diseases, bacterial diseases, fungal diseases and toxins, parasitic and protozoal diseases, and nutritional and metabolic diseases.
– Enabling students to diagnose, treat, and vaccinate against diseases.

Course outputs :

Students will be able to plan strategic methods used for treating avian diseases.
Students will be able to interpret available data in the field of avian diseases.
– Students will be able to evaluate and justify vaccination programs implemented within poultry farms.
