Immunology

Course Description: This course aims to provide students with an integrated knowledge base in the fundamentals of immunology, including the study of innate and acquired immunity, identification of the components of the immune system, and understanding the most prominent immunological diseases and immunological diagnostic methods.

Prerequisites: BCH 301

Objectives of the course :

The student will be able to grasp and identify the fundamental knowledge in immunology and vaccinology.
The student will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of immunology and become familiar with the diagnostic tools commonly used in veterinary medicine.

Course outputs :

The student defines the basic concepts in immunology and vaccinology.
– Differentiate between types of immunity (innate and acquired) and their respective mechanisms of action.
explains the components of the immune system and their different functions.
– Describes the mechanisms of immune response against pathogens.
– It explains the fundamental principles of vaccinology and how vaccines work.
It identifies the most important immunological diseases in veterinary medicine and their characteristics.
