Physiology (2)

Course Description: The course covers the vital systems responsible for nutrition, transport, and respiration in animals, with a focus on the digestive, circulatory, and respiratory systems. It includes the physiology of the digestive system and hormones regulating digestion, processes of digestion, secretion, and absorption in the alimentary canal, and digestion in poultry and ruminants. It also covers the physiology of the cardiovascular system, including the properties of the cardiac muscle, cardiac cycle, blood pressure, heart sounds, and the regulation of blood circulation. Furthermore, it studies the physiology of the respiratory system in terms of pulmonary ventilation, lung volumes, gas exchange, regulation of respiration, and the avian respiratory system, with reference to some basic concepts related to the neural and hormonal regulation of these systems' functions.

Objectives of the course :

Understanding the physiology of the digestive, circulatory, and respiratory systems in animals.
Explaining the mechanisms for regulating the functions of these systems and maintaining internal homeostasis.
