Research Project in Athletic Training

Course Description: Familiarization with knowledge and information related to the fundamental structures of research and its importance, equipping students with the professional and scientific competencies necessary to study issues and problems related to sports training, how to deal with them, and scientifically analyze them, and preparing students to face the actual work environment.
Credit hours: 3
Prerequisites: SPOR411
Objectives of the course :

The general aim of this course is to equip the student with the professional and scientific competencies necessary to study issues and problems related to sports training and how to scientifically deal with them through:
The practical application of scientific research skills and methodologies.
2. Introduce the student to the fundamental elements of research structure by reviewing all the pillars and components that form the scientific foundations of research, in addition to reviewing examples of scientific research.
3. Train students to study issues and problems related to sports training and how to deal with them scientifically.
4. Practical application of scientific research skills and methodologies.
5. Implementation of a field project using all the acquired knowledge from theoretical coursework.
6- Present a complete research project on one of the topics addressing issues and problems in sports training, utilizing all the knowledge gained from theoretical course studies.

Course outputs :

Knowledge and understanding:
Interprets information from scientific literature related to human movement and physical activity, as well as the fundamentals of sports training, in a field research project according to scientific principles.
2- Reviews knowledge and understanding of the scientific approach to linking relevant sports sciences and their application methods when undertaking a research project in sports training according to scientific methods of collecting research data.
Critically discuss knowledge to become a qualified researcher, possessing distinguished researcher qualities to analyze and write research project findings.
Skills:
1- Implements sports training and nutrition strategies and programs to improve athletes' athletic performance and prevent sports diseases and injuries by applying the research project in a specialization within sports training.
2. Assesses the physical and technical condition of participants in various sports and physical activities through the use of modern tools and equipment when implementing a research project in sports training.
Applies laboratory skills used to assess the movement, physical activity, and fitness and health levels of ordinary individuals, athletes, and individuals with special needs, through various tests and measurements, and scientific methods in data collection and analysis.
4- Uses modern technological applications in communication, data collection, analysis, and interpretation to develop creative solutions for problems related to improving and developing sports training through the final results of the research project.
