Course Description: Discussion of the different types of dietary supplements, their importance, and the modern classification of their components. Scientific basis for prescribing dietary supplements to athletes and non-athletes. How to understand performance-enhancing supplements, the difference between them and internationally prohibited stimulants, their types, classifications, and dangers. Study of international regulations and legal rules for handling them by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). Clarification of the roles of the coach, athlete, and guardian in the responsibility entrusted to each of them towards sports and fair play.

Objectives of the course :

This course aims to provide knowledge of nutritional supplements and internationally prohibited performance-enhancing drugs.
1. It lists the different types of dietary supplements and their importance.
2. Application of the Australian Institute of Sport and International Olympic Committee Supplement Classification System (ABCD SYSTEM).
3. Explains the scientific basis for describing dietary supplements for athletes and non-athletes.
4. Explanation of the metabolic and hormonal pathways that affect both supplements and stimulants.
Reviews internationally prohibited doping substances, their classifications, and their dangers.
6. Distinguishes between performance-enhancing nutritional supplements and internationally prohibited stimulants.
7. Evaluation of published research on dietary supplements and detection of methodological flaws.
8. Understanding the 2025 WADA Code, Prohibited Lists, and Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs).
