Studies in the Science of Hadith

Course Description: This course introduces the student to the literature on hadith defects ('ilal) and the compilers of narrations, their methodologies in these works, and the jurisprudence of their indications for uncovering defects. It also covers methods for identifying 'ilal and applies them to selected hadith examples. The examples will be diverse, covering various issues, imams, and multiple sources.
Credit hours: 4
Objectives of the course :

Empowering students to deal with defective hadith, how to detect them, and apply the methodologies of hadith scholars in criticism.

Course outputs :

Knowledge and understanding:
To explain the foundations of the science of 'Ilal (defects in Hadith), the principles of narrators, and the literature on the subject.
2- To describe the methodologies of the Imams in criticism and their books, the understanding of their contextual clues, and their impact on the science of 'Ilal (defects in Hadith).
3. To identify the skills that help in uncovering the cause.
To write advanced scientific research and activities on hadith deficiencies, narrator origins, their authors' methodologies, evidence for preference, and methods for detecting deficiencies.
Skills:
Applies skills and methods for detecting and analyzing the locations of weaknesses and disturbances in hadith.
2- A comparison of the Imams' methodologies in uncovering the cause, analyzing it, and deriving rulings from it.
3. Applies the principles of preference among narrations.
4. It improves the summarization of the positions of the defect (illah), their illustration, the evidence for preference among them, and the methods of resolving contradictions, with a smooth presentation in his research and studies.
5. Employs scientific research skills according to quality standards to prepare applied research in Hadith pathology, using advanced technical methods.
