Course Description: In this course, students will learn about the science of Hadith terminology and a detailed study of the types and issues of terminology needed by a specialist in the Sunnah and its sciences.
Credit hours: 3
Objectives of the course :

Training students to apply modern hadith terminology according to its use by hadith scholars, and developing the ability for induction, comparison, and distinguishing between terms with practical examples for each term.

Course outputs :

Knowledge and understanding:
1. Define modern terminology and its developments.
2. This highlights the difference between what the later scholars agreed upon as standard terminology and the usage of the hadith scholars during the era of narration.
3- It clarifies the method of the Imams during the era of narration in elaborating on terminology and how to understand their intentions.
4- It shows the efforts of scholars in the compilation of the science of Hadith terminology.

An Introduction to the Science of Hadith Terminology
A- Definition of terminology science, its names, origin, and importance.
B. The stages of its codification, and the most notable works from each stage.
C. Characteristics of each stage, and a statement of the positive aspects or observations within these characteristics.
A detailed study of the strange and the famous, their meanings, and the other descriptions applied to them.
A detailed study of the authentic hadith in terms of:
A. Their definitions among hadith scholars, caveats of each definition, and comparison between them in fulfilling the required conditions of a hadith agreed upon as authentic and one with differing opinions on its authenticity among them.
b- Authentic Hadith outside of Al-Bukhari and Muslim: Their sources and conditions for acceptance (with a special focus on the authentication of Al-Tirmidhi, Ibn Khuzaymah, Ibn Hibban, Al-Hakim, Al-Daraqutni, and Al-Maqdisi).
