The epistemological underpinnings of research methods

Course Description: This course introduces students to the intellectual foundations and philosophical bases of research methodologies in Western thought. It presents the epistemological foundations of research methodologies in Islamic thought through a critical study of the philosophical references in Western thought. The course also aims to equip students with sound systematic thinking skills and to understand the epistemological requirements of systematic thinking in Islam. It further introduces students to research methodologies, their types, and their implementation mechanisms, as well as methods for testing study populations. It enables social work students to apply ethical considerations in research situations, in addition to empowering them to understand the fundamental differences between quantitative and qualitative research, and the methodology of each.

This course aims to familiarize the student with the intellectual foundations and philosophical references upon which Western thought research methodologies are based. .
It also aims to present the epistemic assets of research methodologies in Islamic thought through a critical study of philosophical references in Western thought.
– Aims to enable the student to think systematically soundly and understand the prerequisites of the epistemological foundations of systematic thinking in Islam.
