Physics of Ultrasound Imaging

Course Description: This course covers the following sections: An introductory overview of ultrasound physics; generation and absorption of ultrasound waves; interaction of ultrasound waves with matter; the Doppler phenomenon; the standard ultrasound device and its main components; ultrasound imaging; common artifacts in ultrasound images; 3D and 4D image reconstruction techniques and their compatibility with images from other modalities.

Objectives of the course :

• Gaining theoretical and practical knowledge of ultrasound medical imaging.
Understand the terminology and techniques of ultrasound imaging.
• Identify routine and alternative procedures and positions used in ultrasound imaging.
Learn the skills needed to evaluate an image.
Understand the quality procedures for an ultrasound device.

• Identify ultrasound imaging devices for performing various examinations and procedures, and quality protocols for ultrasound units.
