Fundamentals of General Radiologic Technology (2)

Course Description: This course consists of two main components: scientific terminology used in radiological settings; and routine and alternative techniques and positions used in general radiographic examinations. The course covers in-depth the selection of appropriate exposure factors, the procedures and technical steps necessary to successfully complete these examinations, and the skills required for certain emergency situations.
Credit hours: 3
Prerequisites: RAD 221
Objectives of the course :

• Knowledge and understanding of medical imaging terminology and techniques.
• Determine routine and alternative procedures and positions used in radiological examinations of the spine, skull, and facial bones.
Acquire the necessary skills to evaluate an image.

Course outputs :

Knowledge and understanding:
• Definition of medical terms, anatomical planes, and landmarks used in radiographic positioning of the spine, skull, and facial bones.
• Identify the clinical indications and steps for basic positioning and projections in radiographic examinations of the spine, skull, and facial bones.
Skills:
• Explanation of the anatomy of the spine, skull, and facial bones.
Analysis of radiation safety procedures during radiographic examinations of the spine, skull, and facial bones.
Values:
• Demonstrate the radiographic appearance of each projection regarding the radiographic positions of the spine, skull, and facial bones.
