Building and scaling measurement tools

Course Description: This course aims to introduce students to the essential elements of constructing and scaling unidimensional and multidimensional tests and measurements, with a focus on various scaling methods.

Credit hours: 3

Objectives of the course :

Provide the student with a number of rules upon which the process of scaling and testing of measures is based
Focusing on the process of measurement scaling as an experimental measurement problem
Show the developments in both method and theory for the scaling of psychological measures
Provide the student with statistical skills including methods of scaling measures

Course outputs :

Demonstrate a high degree of mastery and knowledge of the concept of scale gradation and its importance.
Understanding the rules on which the scaling of metrics is based
Understanding the procedures for constructing scales
Demonstrate the ability to differentiate between scale measurement types.
Classification of scale grading methods according to different criteria
Practicing critical and creative thinking skills in discussing issues related to scale grading and classifications
