The Psychology of Talent and Creativity

Course Description: This course aims to provide students with a general knowledge background on the historical development of concern for the education of gifted and creative individuals. It will present the Islamic perspective on this issue. It serves as an introduction to the study of giftedness and creativity, presenting intertwined concepts and differentiating between various terms such as intelligence, genius, intellectual superiority, giftedness, and creativity. The course will cover modern theories and models explaining giftedness and creativity, classifications of gifted individuals, the development of concepts of creativity, components of creativity, and the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of gifted and creative individuals. It will also explore methods and approaches for identifying gifted and creative individuals and diagnostic criteria for gifted individuals to understand their cognitive and non-cognitive characteristics and traits.
