Test Item Response Theory

Course Description: This course introduces students to Item Response Theory (IRT) as one of the most important theories in measurement, in addition to comparing it with Classical Test Theory (CTT) and how it has helped solve a number of problems that CTT could not address. Students will also be introduced to the assumptions of IRT, the different models that fall under this theory, how to construct tests within this theory, and the information it can provide regarding both the measure and the examinee.
Credit hours: 3
Objectives of the course :

This course will cover commonly used models for analysis within Item Response Theory (IRT), considering dichotomous (or polytomous) scaling. The major advantages of IRT compared to classical test theory will also be highlighted.

Course outputs :

An Introduction to Item Response Theory and Its Features
Introduction to different Item Response Theory models.
Constructing a scale according to Item Response Theory
-Comparison between Classical Test Theory and Item Response Theory.
- Interpretation of Item Features and Examinees Identified in Analysis Using Item Response Theory.
- Estimation of Consistency, Truthfulness, Standard Error, and their relationship to the amount of information.
