Group counseling

Course Description: This course aims to provide students with the fundamental topics in group counseling. These topics include: the historical origins of group counseling, the foundations and philosophy of group counseling, the role of the group counselor, theories and stages of group counseling, preparation for group counseling sessions (forming the counseling group, equipping the room and its contents, group tasks and dynamics, methods of group management, group counseling styles and techniques, and practical models for group counseling sessions.

Credit hours: 3

Objectives of the course :

To provide students with the fundamental topics in group counseling.
Understanding the foundations and philosophy of group counseling, and the role of the group counselor
Recognizing group counseling theories and stages, and preparing for group counseling sessions.

Understanding the Concept and Philosophy of Group Counseling
Identifying the tasks of a psychological counselor in group counseling
Understanding Group Counseling Theories
Understanding the Stages of Group Counseling
Identifying the most important techniques and methods of group psychological counseling.
Form a homogeneous counseling group and prepare the counseling session room appropriately.
Psychological counseling techniques are employed with the counseling group.
