Psychological diseases

Course Description: This course covers common psychological disorders that physical therapists may encounter in clinical practice, with a focus on their etiologies, symptoms, progression, prognoses, and therapeutic management approaches. It also explains the role of physical therapy in managing patients with psychological disorders, and develops students' ability to recognize, assess, and address psychological problems within the framework of comprehensive multidisciplinary healthcare.

Objectives of the course :

Familiarization with basic terminology used in the field of psychiatry and the symptoms of various mental disorders.
Clarifying the causes of psychological disorders and their impact on job performance and daily living activities.
Recognize the clinical signs and methods of management and treatment of various psychological disorders.
Explanation of the role of genetic, biological, psychological, and social factors in the development of mental illnesses.
