The course primarily aims to introduce students to health psychology and the factors influencing health behavior, harmful health behaviors and methods of changing them, promoting preventive health behaviors, and beliefs and their relationship to behavior, health, and psychological state in cases of chronic illnesses, as well as the impact of social support and health.
The student defines health psychology and distinguishes between its different models, especially the biopsychosocial model, and understands the interactive relationship between the mind and body and its impact on public health.
The student analyzes healthy and unhealthy behaviors, and evaluates prevention and intervention methods to modify these behaviors by understanding the stages of change and applying habit modification techniques.
The student applies research and measurement methods in health psychology to assess psychological stress and the psychological impact of chronic illnesses, and designs strategies for effective communication between the patient and the healthcare provider.
The student is proficient in using psychological research and measurement tools to assess health behaviors and psychological stressors, and to scientifically analyze their results.
The student masters the skills of designing and implementing health behavior modification and prevention programs, such as smoking cessation plans or improving nutrition and exercise.
The student develops skills in preparing and designing research studies in health psychology.
