Course Description: The concept of cognitive therapy, its foundations, and its most prominent pioneers are discussed. The course covers how to identify and evaluate automatic thoughts, how to identify emotions, and the most important cognitive methods and techniques for identifying and evaluating thoughts and emotions. It also addresses the most important issues related to the structure of the therapy session, treatment planning, termination of therapy, and relapse prevention. Finally, it reviews some treatment plans for examining and modifying negative thoughts.

Objectives of the course :

The course aims to:
• Understanding the concept of cognitive therapy, its establishment, and its most important pioneers.
• Key methods and techniques used in evaluating and testing ideas and identifying cognitive distortions, and assessing emotion regulation.
• Key issues related to the format of the therapeutic session and how to plan treatment.
• Treatment termination and relapse prevention procedures, and on the other hand, cognitive therapist development.
• Review some of the models and treatment plans used in screening and modifying negative thoughts.
