Introduction to Psychoanalysis

Course Description: This course covers the concept of psychoanalysis and its fundamental principles, significant discoveries, and contributions to psychoanalytic theories since Freud. It will explore the various branches and schools within psychoanalysis today, psychoanalytic interpretations of neuroses, instinctual drives, pathogenic interpersonal relationships and their consequences for the ego, and psychoanalysis as a therapeutic method.

Objectives of the course :

• The course aims to introduce students to:
• Core Concepts of Psychoanalysis.
Psychology of dreams as a direct path to knowing the unconscious.
• Notable discoveries and contributions to psychoanalytic theories
• Psychoanalytic Interpretation of Neurosis.
Personal defenses against instinctual drives.
• Personal defenses against the superego.
Interpersonal relationships for the consequences of the ego.
Psychodynamic therapy as a treatment method (techniques and approaches).

To explain the psychoanalytic method in interpreting neuroses, slips of the tongue, chance occurrences, and dreams.
