Rehabilitation Psychology

Course Description: This course addresses the theoretical foundations of rehabilitation psychology, its research methodologies, and its relationship with disabilities and illnesses. It also examines the factors that shaped the role of rehabilitation psychology in healthcare, as well as the impact of psychological factors on responding to disabilities and illnesses. Furthermore, it clarifies the relationship between psychological and physiological functions. The course reviews models of illness response, such as the denial model and the depressive response model, and some specialized therapeutic interventions used in rehabilitation psychology. It also discusses psychological and social issues related to physical disabilities, as well as future research issues in the field of psychological rehabilitation.
