Statistical Applications in the Humanities

Course Description: Introduces students to the fundamentals of applied statistics and its application in the humanities through understanding basic statistical concepts and applying appropriate statistical methods in analyzing social and humanistic data. The course covers topics including measures of central tendency and dispersion, correlation and regression, statistical hypotheses, analysis using frequency tables, and some statistical tests such as the t-test and chi-square test.

Empowering students with fundamental statistical concepts and methods, along with their diverse applications in analyzing data related to human and social phenomena. This is achieved through acquiring the necessary skills to select, apply, and interpret the results of appropriate statistical tests, thereby enhancing their critical thinking abilities and evidence-based decision-making.

The student defines the basic concepts of applied statistics and distinguishes between descriptive and inferential statistics.
The student will explain measures of central tendency and dispersion and interpret their significance in the humanities.
