Course Description: This course covers the main topics in group counseling, starting with its definition, historical origins, foundations, and philosophy. It then presents the roles of the group counselor, how to form counseling groups, and how to manage and control the interaction dynamics between the counselor and group members, and among the members themselves. The course also provides a comprehensive overview of the stages and theories of group counseling, focusing on the techniques and treatment methods used in these theories, how to deal with problematic situations in group therapy sessions, and the effective and ethical use of exercises and activities. The course concludes by training students on designing applied counseling sessions for special populations, followed by training on designing complete, multi-stage therapeutic counseling programs for contemporary issues affecting certain special populations. .

Objectives of the course :

• The course aims to:
• Introducing the student to the concept of group counseling, its historical origins, and its foundations. .
The student's familiarity with the roles and duties of the group psychological counselor in structuring and managing group counseling sessions.

• Introduce the student to group counseling theories, methods, and applied techniques.
Introduce the student to the most important special populations that group counseling deals with.
• Training students on designing group counseling sessions and virtual reality therapy programs.
