Course Description: Theoretical part: Periodic motion, harmonic vibrations, total energy of simple harmonic motion, damped vibrations, forced vibrations - forced and damped vibrations and their applications, traveling waves, superposition of harmonic motion, standing waves, beats, transverse waves in strings, longitudinal waves in rods, longitudinal sound waves and their applications in air columns, Fourier analysis - Doppler effect
Credits: 2
Prerequisites: MATH.101
Objectives of the course :

The course aims to provide students with a physical and mathematical background in vibrations and waves and their applications. It will discuss many vibratory and wave motions within a unified physical and mathematical framework. The course also aims to guide students towards understanding the multiple application areas of wave physics.

Course outputs :

At the end of the course, the student should be able to do the following:
1- Understanding the physical and mathematical fundamentals of vibrations and waves, and unifying the various descriptions of vibrational and wave motion within a unified physical and mathematical framework.
2- The student knows how to interpret some wave phenomena in nature on a scientific, physical, and mathematical basis.
3. Student's knowledge of important applications of damped and forced wave motion physics in AC circuits to benefit from them in many scientific applications, especially in manufacturing electronic devices.
4. The student's knowledge of the most important applications of Fourier analysis and Fourier transform in converting optical, thermal, and other energies into electrical energies that can be received by computers.
