Medical Ethics

Course Description: Medical Professional Ethics is a core requirement of the health track. It is offered in Arabic to help students acquire the ethics of a health practitioner, principles of professional medical work, medical scientific research, medical education, dealing with critical and emergency situations, understanding the duties and multiple responsibilities of a health practitioner, and controls for dealing with qualitative and emergency matters and various medical advancements.

Objectives of the course :

1. The student will become familiar with the ethics of health professions and their regulations, the sources of professional ethics, the duties of the health practitioner, and the religious rulings related to health professions.
2. The student will be trained on how to conduct scientific research and the ethics of teaching and learning with patients.
3. The student will become acquainted with the ethics of financial transactions in the healthcare field, and the ethics of certifying and authenticating documents.
4. The student will become aware of the ethics of dealing with infectious diseases and emergency situations. The student will become aware of the ethics of dealing with new developments in health practices. The student will become aware of the ethics of dealing with life-threatening infectious diseases that are not expected to be cured.
5. The student will become familiar with the process of artificial insemination, its related aspects, and the Islamic perspective on it.
6. The student will learn about human organ transplantation procedures.
7. The student will become familiar with the rulings on cosmetic surgery in Islamic jurisprudence.
8. The student will become familiar with stem cell applications, achievements, and promising medical prospects in this regard.
9. The student will become familiar with the concept of euthanasia, medical opinions, and the jurisprudential stance on the matter.
