Course Description: Theoretical: - Introduction to pests affecting field and horticultural crops / insect pests affecting vegetable crops in greenhouses and open fields / insect pests affecting fruit crops and field crops / animal pests associated with vegetable crops in greenhouses and open fields / snails and slugs harmful to crops / the economic importance of rodents / wild birds / principles of classification of animal pests / principles of integrated pest management. Practical: - Introduction to animal pests and mites / identification of different types of insect and animal pests, how to mount mite pests on slides / classification of mite pests / identification of different types of plant-damaging mollusks / wild birds / identification of various animal types of rodent pests.

Objectives of the course :

· Introduce students to pests affecting field crops and horticultural crops
· Introduce students to the morphological and anatomical description of lesions affecting field and horticultural crops. .
Provide students with the knowledge that enables them to use the latest integrated pest management methods for field and horticultural crops.
