Course Description: Theoretical: - History of Nematology - Introduction to Nematodes and Their Importance / General Structure of the Nematode Body and Morphological Characteristics of Nematodes / Classification and Taxonomy of Nematodes / Plant Pathology and the Relationship Between Nematodes and Plants / Visible and Anatomical Symptoms Resulting from Nematode Infestation / Economically Important and Most Damaging Nematode Genera to Plants / Ectoparasitic Nematodes / Relationship Between Nematodes and Viruses / Nematode Dispersal Methods / Preventive Methods, Control Methods, and the Concept of Integrated Pest Management.

Objectives of the course :
  •  Introducing students to the importance of plant-parasitic nematodes and the plant diseases they cause, especially those with significant economic importance that inflict major damage on agricultural crops.
  •  Students learn about the transmission routes of plant pathogenic nematodes and methods for their prevention.
  •  Provide students with sufficient knowledge to enable them to develop a program for combating, controlling, and limiting nematode pests. .
Course outputs :

. Diagnosis of nematode diseases and the ability to extract nematodes from soil and plant tissues.
. Definition and identification of economically important nematode species globally and locally.
. Knowledge of the means of spread of plant-pathogenic nematodes and methods of prevention, so that the student has sufficient information to control, manage, and reduce nematode pests using integrated pest management.
