Course Description: Introduction to Operations Research – Mathematical models for some real-world problems – Mathematical formulation of the linear programming problem – Convex sets and polygons and their representation – Corner point – Optimality theory – Graphical method of solution – Analytical method for solving linear programming (Simplex method) – Big M method – Two-phase method – Formulation errors – Duality problem – Sensitivity analysis – Applications of linear programming to transportation and network problems.

Objectives of the course :

This course aims to introduce the student to operations research and its various models, focusing on linear models and their applications in transportation and network problems. It will also cover an important application of linear algebra and its related concepts in solving many problems encountered in life, such as industrial, commercial, agricultural, and military fields.

Acquire knowledge by learning some basic concepts and theories in algebra. - Acquire cognitive skills through thinking, formulating, and solving real-world problems. - Link the theoretical aspect with the practical aspect.
