Complementary and Alternative Therapies

Course Description: Alternative and Complementary Therapy is an elective nursing course for nursing students that focuses on providing students with a variety of complementary and alternative medicine topics, including acupuncture, massage therapy, and traditional Chinese medicine using an evidence-based approach. Attention will be focused on herbs, especially those used to treat human diseases such as cancer, heart and nervous system disorders, and other illnesses. It provides students with a good background in herbal medicine therapy and other types of alternative medicine.
Credit hours: 3
Objectives of the course :

1. Understand the concept of alternative medicine.
2. Identifying the different types of alternative therapy such as massage, acupuncture, aromatherapy, etc. .
3. Discussion of the uses of various alternative treatment methods in health and disease. .
4. Determining the appropriate types of alternative treatment for the patient's condition.
5. Explain effective evaluation methods for various types of alternative therapy.
6. Recognizing the role of the nurse in providing care for all types of alternative therapy.
