Course Description: Dialysis nursing is an elective nursing curriculum for nursing students that focuses on providing students with principles designed to prepare future professional nurses with the necessary and appropriate skills and knowledge to assess, treat, and care for patients during dialysis, and to maintain the patient's normal fluid and electrolyte balance. It also covers the application of the nursing care process and prioritization of nursing care for dialysis patients, as well as the nurse's role in comprehensive kidney patient care at all stages, whether before, during, or after dialysis.

Objectives of the course :

1. Review of the anatomy and physiology of the urinary system. .
2. Description of the health assessment for a hemodialysis patient. .
3. Discussion of the implementation of the nursing care plan for hemodialysis patients. .
4. Discussion of diagnostic tests and related nursing procedures and responsibilities for dialysis patients. .
5. Explain the purpose of dialysis and differentiate between peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis. .
6. Explain how dialysis is performed. .
7. Evaluating and interpreting the results of tests conducted on a dialysis patient before, during, and after hemodialysis. .
8. Description of nursing procedures before, during, and after dialysis. .
10. Explain how to set up a dialysis machine.
10. Discussion of fluid and electrolyte balance with hemodialysis. .
11. Understanding infection control measures for safe and effective hemodialysis. .
