Pediatric surgical nursing

Course Description: This is an elective nursing course that helps students gain an in-depth understanding of pediatric surgical nursing and develop their skills in diagnosing, assessing, and treating pediatric surgical disorders, with a focus on common surgical disorders in infants and children through practical training. It aims to provide the expertise, clinical training, and knowledge of skills required to prepare nursing students in the field of nursing care for neonates, infants, and children in surgical departments. The nursing process will be utilized in implementing the nursing care plan.

Objectives of the course :

1. Perform nursing assessments on pediatric surgical patients within the family setting.
2. Develop a nursing care plan for pediatric patients undergoing surgical procedures in the pre-, intra-, and post-operative stages.
3. Applying research findings in planning and implementing a comprehensive nursing care plan for pediatric surgical patients.
4. Description of various modern techniques used in pediatric surgical procedures.
5. Assessing the legal and ethical considerations related to pediatric and neonatal surgery patients.
