Child and Adolescent Nursing

Course Description: This course is a nursing curriculum for the study of theory and practice, focusing on the care of children from birth to adolescence. It examines the effects of acute and chronic illness on growth and development in the community and the follow-up of acute care. It covers child and family education for health promotion, disease prevention, and safety issues. Emphasis will be placed on implementing the nursing care process in the care of healthy children as well as children with various health problems. Additionally, it discusses ethical issues concerning the relationship with the child and family, including issues such as child abuse, and the impact of various cultural and spiritual beliefs on healthcare decisions within the family.

1. Applying concepts of growth and development in providing care for pediatric patients and their families. .
3. Conduct physical, nutritional, and growth assessments for sick children. .
4. Application of the nursing plan in providing nursing care for newborns and children. .
5. Recognizing emergencies and modern techniques in newborns and critical cases, and how to manage them. .
6. Appreciating the legal and ethical aspects related to pediatric and neonatal nursing. .
Establishing evidence-based nursing practice and identifying research areas in pediatric nursing. .
8. Recognize the role of the pediatric nurse as a member of the child and newborn healthcare team. .
