Reproductive health

Course Description: Reproductive Health is an elective nursing course for nursing students that focuses on providing students with knowledge of male and female reproductive health from adolescence to old age. It provides students with the opportunity to apply critical thinking and clinical application to family and reproductive health care from a holistic and humanistic perspective in the field of reproductive health and the care of the individual and family. The clinical training is also concerned with providing students with the opportunity to apply and develop relevant psychomotor skills for family and community care through hands-on practice in hospitals, prenatal clinics, homes, and schools.

Objectives of the course :

1. Review of nursing theories relevant to family care during the reproductive period and patients with reproductive system disorders. .
A description of fetal growth from fertilization to birth. .
3. Discussion of pregnancy disorders and complications. .
4. Application of the nursing plan in healthcare for women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. .
5. Description of psychological and physiological changes in females during menopause and the climacteric period. .
6. Discussion of common disorders associated with female and male reproductive health and their impact on the individual. .
7. Discuss the process of providing care for victims of domestic violence. .

Course outputs :

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to demonstrate the ability to:
1. Understanding reproductive health with a focus on maternal and child health.
2. Understanding the concept of safe motherhood.
3. Understands how economic decisions and conditions affect healthcare services for mothers, as well as their potential for good health in adulthood.
4. Recognizes the characteristics of sexual development during adolescence.
5. Recognizes legal and illegal abortion from a scientific perspective.
Explains interventions and programs to improve reproductive health.
7. Apply the steps for measuring and interpreting reproductive indicators (within countries and globally).
8. Identifies factors affecting reproductive health.
