Leadership and Management in Nursing

Course Description: This course helps students acquire leadership and management capabilities in nursing across various levels of nursing care. It prepares students to understand their role in leadership and management, focusing on their interactions with healthcare providers through different management theories and leadership styles specific to nursing management practice. The foundations of the management process and change management strategies and their applications will be explored. The course helps develop students' leadership skills to ensure best practices and nursing care standards. Different hospital units will be used to apply the theories and basic information in this regard. This course is designed to help students understand the key skills used by nursing leaders and managers, and to develop their abilities for analysis and critical thinking in evaluating management challenges. .

Objectives of the course :

1. Description of the concept, philosophy, objectives, theories, and principles of nursing management.
2. Discussion of the management process in nursing and the role of the nurse in charge. .
4. Identifying tasks and characteristics necessary for effective management. .
5. Identifying economic, demographic, and technological changes affecting nursing practice and formulating reforms for change.
6. Applying management principles in hospitals and nursing education programs, and healthcare units at all levels. .
7. Demonstrating leadership in the nursing profession. .
8. Identifying selected leadership styles in management and their applications at various nursing management levels. .
9. Describe the principles of time management and work organization. .
10. Recognizing Signs and Symptoms of Conflict and Differentiating Between Constructive and Destructive Conflict. .
