Course Description: Counseling Skills for Health Professionals is an elective course that provides background for community counseling practice. Additionally, it discusses the context of multiple systems affecting the role and behavior of a community health counselor. Students will learn the skills necessary for a career as a health counselor, including understanding health service delivery systems, managing planning and outcome-oriented treatment, and advocating for time management. Finally, students will learn the skill of writing counseling reports for community service.
Credit hours: 3
Objectives of the course :

1. Understand the history and philosophy of career and health counseling. .
Developing technological efficiency and computer literacy through writing progress notes, treatment plans, and treatment summaries using computer programs.
3. Identifying methods for providing professional advice to healthy individuals
4. Explain the role of nursing in providing health professional advice.
5. Explain the nurse's role in applying legal and ethical regulations in the practice of professional health counseling to serve the community.
6. Mastering the process of needs assessment for vocational counseling for healthy individuals.
